sig saurer p365

Sig Saurer P365 - The formula for a single 9mm pistol was developed in the early 2000s and hasn't changed much for a decade. The formula is simple: a smaller gun that trades concealment and ease of use for a smaller ammunition capacity. Eight rounds in a magazine is an acceptable standard and no one really opposes this idea. Nobody before the Sig Sauer P365 came along.

The Sig P365 was introduced in early 2018 to almost universal acclaim. The P365 incorporates a variety of designs from the P320 semi-automatic pistol, the military's new standard service pistol, despite its reduced size. This includes features such as an integrated fire control group with keys housed in the polymer grip module. This means that it is easy to change the grip frame to a different size or color, making it easy to change your gun to your liking.

The real game changer is the P365 magazine and how it fits into the gun frame. 10 gun magazines for guns are nothing new. Reduced artillery versions such as the Glock 26 have been using 10 round magazines for over twenty years. After all, the new thing is to pack 10 rounds in a gun that is almost an inch wide and has a long handle. Enough to wrap all your fingers around it. There are also 12-round and 15-round magazines available for the P365. That means this gun has more than double the ammunition capacity of the other guns in our 9mm pistol test.

The excess grain capacity comes with some drawbacks. The P365 is very short, one of the shortest in our tests. However, the more you start adding to the magazine's capabilities, the longer it will last. This also increases the height of the gun. The height of the gun (the distance from the top of the slide to the base of the magazine) is important because it affects how easy the gun is to conceal. The higher the gun, the higher it is on your belt, making it harder to conceal.

The 12-round or 15-round magazine for the Sig P365 can negate one of the main reasons for taking the small 9mm, namely concealment. Think about it, if your 15 gauge pistol is as hard to conceal as a 15 gauge pistol, why not get a bigger and easier pistol instead? I have to admit that line of thought means a lot to me. This is why I recommend people carry their P365s with ten round magazines or twelve round options, and have 15 round magazines as backup or emergency magazines.

The gun is very small. It was the shortest and thinnest scene in our test. However, for some reason the Sig P365 feels smaller in my hand than when I first picked it up. However, it is not difficult to maintain. The pistol grip jumps out, mimicking the shape of your hand. The grip also feels very short back to front compared to the other guns in this test. The two work together to make the P365 easy to hold and shoot.

The sight on the gun I shot had a large Green Day-Glo ring in front with a tritium dot in the center. The front sight is my favorite defensive gun installation, especially in combination with the black rear as on this gun. The P365 has a safety trigger that comes with it to reduce the possibility of a negligent shock. There are two further internal safes as well. Additionally, the version I tested has a safety lever attached to the frame manually. I had no problem launching the safety as I fired my shotgun at the target. This is what you want in a manual safety. If you're the type that needs a manual safety on your rifle, the safety on the P365 will work just fine for you.

On the range, the P365's comfortable grip and excellent triggers make it a delightful gun to shoot even for extra sessions. A small extension at the end of the standard 10 round magazine was enough for me to grip the gun properly. This, combined with great visibility on the gun and perfect tips, made it easy to change into tight groups as needed. Say...

The P365 was one of the most accurate pistols in our tests. If I have a complaint about this gun, it is that the front sight is very wide, it comes very close to filling the gap in the rear sight. The large front sight post makes it easy to collect when pointing the gun at the target. However, the small gap between the front and rear sight poles makes it difficult to get a clear picture. There is not enough space to easily judge the vision alignment. This is why I like the narrow face on my gun.

From a seat at 15 yards the Sig Sauer P365 averaged a group of less than three inches in diameter. We used three identical 9mm rifles to test the P365, as we did with all the other rifles in our collection of the best small polymer 9mm pistols.

At $599, the MSRP Sig Sauer P365 is one of the most expensive pistols in our test. However, it is also packed with great features such as easy grip, great tips and great magazine capacities. It represents a new standard in the small arms and handgun market that I have repeatedly recommended to people looking for handguns for protection.
