glock size comparison

Glock Size Comparison - Glocks are fairly spartan guns where one model can easily be mistaken for another, but there are subtle and noticeable generational differences.

After covering the basics in Part 1, let's get down to the specifics: sizes, categories, and what models fit into them.

Glock Size Comparison

Glock handguns are identified by generation number and model, and subsequently by size, which includes how they fit into the following categories: Standard, Compact, Subcompact, Slimline, Competition, Long and Crossover.

Glock 43 Vs. 19: Which Should You Choose?

Standard Glocks are complete pistols designed for office and home defense. Barrel lengths are 4.49 inches and 4.61 inches, depending on grade. Glocks are the most commonly sold handguns and strike the right balance between size, weight and control.

Agreement is a relative term. These Glocks are still quite large with a barrel length of 4.02 inches and arms that fill your hand. They allow slightly shorter barrels and barrels to be easier to conceal and more comfortable to carry while maintaining control of the weapon. That being said, this is a popular size category of bullets.

Subcompact Glocks are designed for concealed carry and backup weapons. These rifles feature ultra-short frames and barrel lengths range from 3.43 inches to 3.78 inches, depending on the barrel. These guns are ideal for carrying and concealing in almost any way.

These little beauties are meant to be hidden. Glocks slimline pistol design is ultra compact, accurate and comfortable for all shooters regardless of hand size. It features an integral beavertail body, reduced grip texture for easy control, and a redesigned magazine catch.

Glock 43 Vs. Glock 19

Larger than full size, we are talking about a gun specially made for shooting competitions. They have standard size boards but longer slides and barrels. A longer slide and barrel allows for a larger sight radius and higher velocity, as well as less recoil and muzzle flip.

Crossover Glocks are a combination grip with a compact slide. The plan was originally launched for the MHS competition, but has also become popular in the civilian sphere. Glock is also considering a G43X crossover, but it's also a single stack, so Glock's dimensions remain controversial.

Don't worry, we know you still have questions, so we've listed which models fit into each category to make it easy for you!

So which models are in which category? Now this is where it starts to confuse people... and for good reason!

Comparing The Glock 43x To The Glock 43: In Depth Analysis

Just when you think you have that pat down, there are also several Glock models that are not (and cannot be) included in the chart above. Not available to the public, custom or autocomplete:

Glock has developed its firearms allowing them to adapt to changing market trends and consumer opinions. While the Glock — like most of the company's firearms — is a slow beast, when it's replaced, it's guaranteed to be impressive and time-tested.

Is your EDC a pistol group and if so how do you carry it? Is there a particular model of Glock that you prefer for concealed carry or shooting? Who is your favorite model of all time?

For those of us gun enthusiasts who haven't been living under a rock for the past 3 decades, the name Glock has become a household word in the shooting world. People who have never held a gun, let alone a gun, will recognize the name. It is estimated that 65% of US police agencies use some form of Glock. It's time to dive into everything you need to know about the Glock 9mm and its various models. We are looking at you:

The history of the Glock is quite remarkable considering the man who assembled the gun knew next to nothing about pistol design. Gaston Glock sold cane sticks and knives to the Austrian military and the parts were known as injection molding. His team created the Model 17 pistol to help the Austrian military in need of a new sidearm, and a rifle legend was born. The interesting story is that the "17" represents the 17th patent issued to the Glock Corporation, and this numbering of systems continues to this day.

Shooters tend to be either Glock fans or detractors - there aren't many options. I'm one of those rare birds who is central to my opinion of Gaston's prodigy. I had a Model 30 .45 ACP well and had to buy a barrel later to shoot the projectile bullet. It performed well without being overbearing. The gun was no eye candy. In another article I wrote about the pistol industry, I called Glock the Chevy Impala. The Impala is a good, mid-priced car that's a popular choice among car buyers—reliable and well-designed.

The Glock, like the Impala, gets the job done in a useful way. It gets the job done without costing an arm and a leg. They are usually the most reliable. All those capital programs in Glock's acquisition system are pretty good in this testament.

To narrow it down a bit, take a look at Glock's bestsellers. In terms of quality, the 9mm rules the glock cube. And of the fifty plus pistol models that Glock sells, their best selling model is the 9mm 19. This pistol packs 15+ 1 rounds into a small package. I know that many who wear this model seem to be in a better middle ground between hidden size and volume. Now, if that's not for you, here are 19 other great Glock 9mm models to choose from.

I'm making a spec sheet for popular models, as well as an extended version that compares all twenty, all shooters in detail. In fact, some of these models are rarely found in gun shops, because they serve very specific purposes (for example: long-range combat, in which the Model 34 excels). So before we crunch all the numbers on a chart, let's take a look at the 9mm in some popular Glock models.

This is a dense list. are you number Here are the extended versions of all the 9mm Glocks and click on the title to install them (best viewed on a tablet PC or Beam);

Now let's look at each model, but first we need to explain a little. If you look at the table above, you will see "MOS" and "FS" listed after several models. MOS stands for Modular Optical System. The Glock mechanism on this gun is modified by tapping a slot in front of the rear sight to accept a red dot or other mounting plate. It is covered with a hood when not in use.

FS means the engines include front locking. Those rifles marked FS have slide manipulation at the front of the slide in addition to the standard rear axles. Many shooters have asked Glock to add front locks on all new guns. Until now, they used only weapons with FS marking.

Explaining the generations of Glocks is in order if we want this article to be as useful as possible to those who are thinking of purchasing a Glock. "Generation" in Glock terminology equates to other companies coming out with "Mod 2", "2.0", etc. It basically has major weapon repairs. Feature changes (commonly called updates) can be a few minor ones, a few "major" ones of great importance, or a combination of both to make adjustments for future generations. Here we go, from the original Glock (now Gen1) to the latest generation, the Gen5.

This is an original, bare bones Glock Model 17. We can identify this gun by the relative lack of stock or texture on the frame and no finger scratches. This is the Glock with which the Austrian military was first equipped
